Children supported by Rainbow Trust are facing a unique set of challenges in their day to day lives. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker to help them make the most of their time together and give them vital support in the most challenging of times.

If you are passionate about helping people, are keen to get involved in your local community, and want to help families with a seriously ill child make the most of their time together, we think you’d enjoy volunteering with us.

Volunteer with children

We have a range of opportunities available to volunteer with children supported by Rainbow Trust, from spending time with children in their homes or hospitals to helping with fundraising events or administrative tasks.

Our Family Support Worker Volunteer roles give volunteers a chance to provide practical help to families with a seriosuly ill child,.

Family Support Volunteer

Family Support Volunteers are vital to the work we do at Rainbow Trust. Our volunteers make a tangible difference to the lives of families caring for a terminally or seriously ill child.

This role could include:

  • Social support for siblings e.g. helping with homework, supporting interests and play/craft activities
  • Participating in craft/play activities with children and families, both inside and outside the home
  • Accompanying families to hospital appointments
  • Providing practical support in the family home, including domestic help, cooking and recreational activities
