Tools for digging
Step 1
Place small household items that are waterproof but hard-wearing like lego, buttons, toy cars, or dinos, into a plastic tub or bowl.

Step 2
Make space in your freezer, put the tub in so it is flat, then pour water into it - making sure the toys sink.

Step 3
Leave to freeze overnight.

Step 4
On a hot day, supply child age appropriate digging tools, tip the ice out onto a tray or onto grass, and let the children try and dig for the fossils!
