Wow, what a journey! We set out to make our presence at this year’s London Marathon bigger and better than ever and I am pleased to say that we certainly did!

With 65 wonderful volunteers cheering and helping at our post-race reception and 50 amazing Rainbow Trust runners out on the course, it was one incredibly memorable day for all involved!

The atmosphere throughout the day was absolutely electric! Our two cheer points were large, loud, colourful, and quite frankly, difficult to miss! We’ve had feedback that our cheers kept our runners going when times got tough and the sight of our cheerers wearing rainbow hair extremely encouraging.

Our team was one of mixed-ability and people ran for Rainbow Trust for various reasons. Whatever the reason you chose to run for us and whatever your ability or finishing time, thank you so much for being a valued member of our team and representing Rainbow Trust at the largest fundraising event in the world, it means so much to us and ultimately to the families supported as a result of your fundraising.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every single one of our staff, volunteers, runners and supporters, that helped make Sunday such a special day. Special thanks also goes out to our Family Support Manager, Kate McInnes, who is a fantastic example of how we go above and beyond to live the Rainbow Trust values. Kate completed her first ever marathon on Sunday, losing 4 stone in the lead up to the event. Kate’s goal was to complete the marathon in under 8 hours and she did it with plenty of time to spare and has so far raised over £4,000. We are really proud of you Kate!

We also saw one of our long term supporters, David Kennard, complete his tenth consecutive London Marathon for Rainbow Trust, in memory of his daughter, Eloise.

“I am always amazed at the efforts of all the staff and volunteers who work so hard and give up their time. It is a real inspiration to me and I’m sure all the other runners taking part, thank you.” David, supported by Rainbow Trust

So far our Marathon team has raised over £63,000 which is absolutely incredible. It was a pleasure for Nicola and I to meet so many of our runners and their supporters at the reception. We hope you enjoyed your treats and sports massage! Thank you once again for being part of our biggest sporting event and making our 2015 London Marathon an incredible day!

If you ran the marathon for us we’d love to hear from you! Let us know how you found it and do share any photos you have.

We are already looking forward to 2016!

Why not enter the ballot for a place in the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon? Online entry will be live Monday 4 May – Friday 8 May.
