Rainbow Trust saw an incredible surge of support on 26 and 27 April, with two unforgettable fundraising events bringing together supporters from across the UK – all in aid of families caring for a seriously ill child.
Adventure Triple Challenge Conquers the Lake District
On Saturday, our brand new Adventure Triple Challenge launched in dramatic style in Ullswater, Lake District. A total of 47 amazing participants, including four members of staff from head office, took on a gruelling but rewarding course:
- 31-mile cycle ride
- 2-mile kayak or canoe paddle
- 7.5-mile climb to the summit of Helvellyn, England’s third highest peak
The atmosphere was full of determination, team spirit and awe at the stunning scenery. Every step, pedal and paddle helped raise funds for the vital support Rainbow Trust provides to families across the country.
Fred Runs His 33rd London Marathon
On Sunday, attention turned to the capital as 59 Rainbow Trust runners took part in the 2025 London Marathon, covering a collective distance of around 1,500 miles.
One of those runners was Fred, aged 76, a retired police officer from Doncaster, who was running his 33rd consecutive marathon for Rainbow Trust.
Fred has been running in memory of his daughter Claire, who died of cancer just before her 15th birthday in 1987. He shared:
“The work Rainbow Trust does is much needed for families with children who have life-threatening or terminal illnesses. It enables families to cope as they face unimaginably difficult situations. I’ve supported Rainbow Trust for over 34 years. Its work is close to my heart because when my family were in this situation there were no organisations out there to offer help.
"We were fortunate we had a strong support group of family and friends – not everyone has this, making their help even more vital. And I will continue to support them as long as I can – especially next year for their 40th anniversary in 2026.”
Cheering All the Way
Our amazing volunteers were out in force at two cheer points, offering sweets and shouts of encouragement to keep our runners going.
A HUGE well done to all runners and challengers – you’ve helped raise vital funds to support families when they need us most.
