Chore a day

'Chore a Day the Rainbow Way' is aimed at encouraging children to spend a week thinking about all the things that are done for them on a daily basis that we all take for granted. Read on to find out how you can get involved.

"Our appreciation cannot be expressed in words, only that time with our children is priceless."

We are asking children to undertake some jobs at home to help their family just like our Family Support Workers do for our Rainbow families. In the process children can raise funds and spread the word about the essential support that is provided by Rainbow Trust.

How do I get involved?

“Chore a Day the Rainbow Way” is aimed at encouraging children to spend a week thinking about all the things that are done for them on a daily basis that we all take for granted. We are asking children to go home and do something to help their family just like our Family Support Workers do for our Rainbow families.

Instructions

  • The teacher or group leader should give each child a “Chore a Day” fundraising pack.
  • The children will need to discuss with their parents/guardian a chore they could help with for each day of the week. Try to do something different each day to make it more fun.
  • Once the chore has been completed the parent/guardian decides on a suitable donation for that chore and writes this amount on the form.
  • The children collect the money raised for that chore and then colours in that day with one of the colours of the rainbow.
  • By the end of the week, each child will have a brightly coloured Rainbow. They should return the form to their teacher or group leader with the money they have raised.
  • Last but not least, remember to have fun!
