Behind the scenes with the award-winning broadcaster with his favourite stories, poetry and prose

Monday 31 October 2011
7pm

Alan Titchmarsh is known to millions through the popular BBC programmes "Ground Force", "Gardener's World" and “RHS Chelsea Flower Show” and we invite you to enjoy an exclusive, informative and above all amusing evening with TV's most popular gardening broadcaster.

Join Alan as he chats with the audience and shares stories of his colourful life and career in gardening, broadcasting and writing, and about the people he has met. This is a wonderful chance to see Alan at his best, speaking about what is on his mind, and also reading some of his favourite stories and poems. He may even tell us hilarious behind-the-scenes anecdotes and gossip, give useful advice about gardening or tell us about interviewing Prince Philip... This special evening is guaranteed to be great entertainment, whilst raising money for Rainbow Trust.

Alan is also a long-standing patron of Rainbow Trust, and he says
“I am proud to be involved with Rainbow Trust. I firmly believe that the work they do with families is of tremendous value, providing loving care for terminally ill children and also support to their families. As any parent knows, to see your child suffer is one of the hardest things to bear, and when that child dies then the pain is, quite simply, something that most of us could not even begin to imagine. Having spoken to families who have used Rainbow Trust services, I know just how appreciated the care, compassion and support is. I think you’ll agree that Rainbow Trust is a very special organisation deserving of all the support we can give it.”

How to plant an Iris
For early spring cheer, plant your Iris in a sunny or lightly shaded area of your garden. The bulbs should be planted in November, and they like 5-8cm planting depth in well drained soil.
