What's it all about?
On Friday 27 August 2010 Rainbow Trust is holding its annual golf day at Old Thorns in Liphook, Hampshire. This is our inaugural event at Old Thorns after a fantastic run of 14 years at Tyrrell’s Wood Golf Club in Surrey and we are hoping it will be bigger and better than ever before.
Old Thorns is a magnificent championship golf course that ranges across the rolling hills of the North Hampshire countryside and offers fantastic views at every turn. Mature trees, natural springs, lakes and testing bunkers give real character to the course which, while kind to the less experienced golfer, holds some surprises for the player who enjoys a challenging round in a classic English landscape.
The par 72 course has an illustrious history - plans for its development started in 1976 and came to fruition in 1981 when Peter Allis, Honorary President of the Club and Dave Thomas completed the construction of the course they had painstakingly designed. A year later its official inauguration saw Seve Ballesteros, Jack Nicklaus, Isao Aoki and the then reigning Open Champion, Bill Rogers, play a competitive four ball.
This fantastic event consists of bacon butties on arrival followed by four ball on the beautiful course, and concludes with a three course presentation meal, prize giving and an evening of entertainment. Rainbow Trust welcomes both corporate teams as well as those made up by individuals.
A team of four is £340 and tee off times are staggered between 12.45pm and 2.45pm.
This year we would like to welcome extra dinner guests to join your team at £25 per head.
We have also secured some fantastic room rates at the hotel for those who wish to stay overnight. Both golfers and guests staying overnight will have full use of the fantastic spa.
