Gruffalo illustrator Axel Schleffer and glamorous chef Gizzi Erskine joined children and families at a special party to celebrate the launch of the Gruffalo's Child DVD during the February half term week.

Children enjoyed the celebration at Coram's Field in London which included lots of Grufftacular activities and a Gruffalo Bake competition judged by Gizzi Erskine, writer, chef and star of Channel 4's Cook Yourself Thin and Axel Schleffer the illustrator of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child.

Gizzi Erskine who turned out in support of Rainbow Trust said: “My nephew and niece absolutely love The Gruffalo and I was so excited to be involved with the launch of the Gruffalo’s Child DVD in such a creative way, by heading up the judging of the cake competition alongside Axel.”

We received great support and all the children who came got treated to a cake making master class, shadow puppetry, footprint hunting, as well as witnessing Axel Schleffer creating an exclusive piece of art in front of their eyes.

Heather Wood, Rainbow Trust’s Chief Executive said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be the chosen beneficiary of The Gruffalo’s Child DVD launch event. The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child are captivating stories for young, inquisitive minds and bring great joy and escapism to children everywhere, including the many seriously ill children that our Family Support Workers help on a daily basis.”

Axel Schleffer also donated an exclusive piece of original artwork to be auctioned off to raise money for Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. It is very rare that original Axel Schleffer artwork is available so if you are interested in bidding for this one-off artwork please contact oonagh.goodman@rainbowtrust.org.uk, We will make sure you are put on a mailing list for more information.
