X Factor Charity Single Raising Money for Together for Short Lives

The X Factor charity single, a cover of Rose Royce classic ‘Wishing on a Star’, launched this Sunday, 27 November live on ITV. The single performed on X Factor by the last sixteen contestants as well as JLS and One Direction.

All net proceeds will go to Together for Short Lives who work to ensure that all families of children unlikely to reach adulthood can make the most of their lives, with money raised going to 50 organisations including Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity to help local children and their families.

Simon Cowell, patron of Together for Short Lives comments on his involvement in the charity,
I have seen first-hand the invaluable care and support they offer to thousands of young people and their families, so I am thrilled that the X Factor charity single this year will benefit this charity.

Whenever I spend time with these children and families, I realise just how many challenges they face. And when I visit the places that help them, like a children’s hospice, it is clear to see that they are an incredible lifeline to the families that use them. But they are more than just a building and a lot of support is also given in the home. And it’s not just the kids, it’s the parents and well brothers and sisters that need help.

Every one of these services relies on the public’s generosity to maintain what they’re doing, otherwise they don’t exist – that’s the reality.

The X Factor charity single is an opportunity to help them.”

The single costs £3.99 and is available to order at HMV and Amazon and via download at http://xfactor.togetherforshortlives.org.uk or Syco Music, and in all good high street stores including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, M&S and Asda.
