What do you do?

I am the Director of Care Services which means that I oversee all of the care services that Rainbow Trust provides to families. I am responsible for the development of the care team and for the future direction of the care services. As part of my role, I visit the teams regularly and get an overview of the work that each of the teams are involved in. It also means that I hear about a lot of the families that we are able to help and also about the difference that our support can make.

Why did you join Rainbow Trust?

I had heard about Rainbow Trust when I worked for another organisation that worked with families with children who were ill and I could see the difference that having support at home made to these families. I knew that Rainbow Trust is the only organisation that specialises in this type of support and was very keen to be a part of it. I wanted to work for an organisation that made a real difference to people’s lives and when the opportunity arose I was thrilled to be appointed.

What do you find rewarding?

I find it very rewarding to hear from the Family Support Workers and Respite Support Workers about the families they are involved with and how they are helping the families to cope with their own situations. Hearing from other professionals who have referred families to us for support about the difference they can see it has made to those families is another great part of my job.

What benefits are there in working for Rainbow Trust?

I gain real job satisfaction from my role and enjoy working as a part of a close knit and committed team of people who are all focussed on the same goal. Rainbow Trust is a friendly organisation in which to work and one in which no two days are ever the same. It is a challenging but rewarding role that means I enjoy coming to work every day.

What values are important in working for Rainbow Trust?

It is important to be committed to delivering a high quality service and to be flexible to the needs of each individual family. We work in an open way and have good, clear communication between staff – it’s important to enjoy being with people and also to have a sense of fun and enjoyment at work.
