At home and in the communityCoping with a sick child while trying to keep life as normal as possible for other children and juggling the demands of everyday life, work and family commitments can be overwhelming. Families often benefit from extra support to help them enjoy time together at home.
Sibling supportHaving a sick brother or sister can put a lot of pressure on siblings, as their parents are not always able to be there for them in the same way as they used to. Brothers and sisters often find that different people are picking them up from school and giving them their meals or that they have to stay with friends and relatives.
In hospitalSpending long periods in hospital, either waiting for out patient appointments or as an in-patient can be very stressful for parents and boring for both the sick child and their brothers and sisters. Trying to keep life at home as normal as possible can be difficult for parents, adding pressure to any family. Rainbow Trust offers help and support to try to reduce some of these pressures.
Bereavement supportAt Rainbow Trust the support we offer to families is not time limited and does not end with the death of their child. We know that families may need support for many months or years following the death of their child.
